As you probably know, there is annual convention called Flock. This year’s is happening in Cape Cod, Hyannis, MA and will begin the morning of Tuesday, August 29. Sessions will continue each day until midday on Friday, September 1.

I have asked all of the session leaders from Flock some questions.

And now you are about to read one of the responses.

Marketing – tasks and visions by Gabriele Trombini

What is the goal of your session at Flock?

I don’t have any main goal, I think Flock isn’t the right place to get goals. My purpose is to have a great discussion amongst attendees in order to gather ideas and new path to follow for improving the Marketing works.

What does it affect in the project?

Marketing has a strategic importance inside the Project. We strongly want the usefulness of the sector and work along with the Council to reach the goals we think we have to reach.

What does your talk focus on?

It consists of an overview of what we’re doing pointing out this is not the best we can do. We should renew the structure and watch forward as a private company, exploiting synergies with the other Fedora outreach groups.

Without giving too much away, what can attendees expect to learn or do in your session?

Good question. My hope is that attendees will get an openmind vision of the whole Project targets and goals. The point I notice currently is that too many people have a limited vision, usually restricted to their area of interest, also within the same group.

Who should attend?

Marketing is a common interest, for the devels also. We all know that mktg strategies involve the future of the Project, if we don’t reach the targeted users we don’t have any hope to survive; all the Project should take care and attend to the Marketing things.

What do you do in Fedora/how long have you been involved in the project?

Due to my age my early days with Fedora date back to before the birth of the Community. I worked a lot with the Italian Community and the I joined the Project in 2011. Currently I’m a FAmSCo member and trying to work with several groups such as Fedora-join, Marketing and Ambassadors mainly.

What attracts you to this type of work or part of the project?

Simply working side by side with some of the most interesting people I have met. Be present in a small part of what they’re doing is the best reward I’ve ever had.
