Heroes of Fedora 23 continues

Heroes of Fedora 23 continues, with a look at the heroes of Fedora 23 Beta testing.

Following on from the Alpha post, it’s time to celebrate all those who contributed to Fedora 23 Beta testing! As usual, we’ll be looking at Bodhi feedback on updates, release validation tests, and bug reports.

1 If a person provides multiple comments to a single update, it is considered as a single comment. Karma value is not taken into account.

As usual the numbers here are much higher compared to Alpha, as Bodhi is enabled for the whole Beta cycle and more people are testing. Again the numbers are significantly down on Fedora 22; again this may be due to the upheaval caused by the switchover to Bodhi 2. We should definitely aim to bump up the numbers again for Fedora 24! Hans Müller and Chris Sandler deserve a special mention for being in the top 3 for both F22 Beta and F23 Beta.

1 This is a list of bug reports referenced in test results. The bug itself may not be created by the same person.

Once again we see numbers higher than Alpha and lower than Fedora 22. Again I think the number of tests run by openQA is a significant influence here. satellit and pwhalen were the top two for Fedora 22 Beta and maintain that status here, with juliuxpigface joining them right up at the top.

…and also 180 other reporters who created less than 3 reports each, but 220 reports combined!

1 The total number of new reports (including “excess reports”). Reopened reports or reports with a changed version are not included, because it was not technically easy to retrieve those. This is one of the reasons why you shouldn’t take the numbers too seriously, but just as interesting and fun data.
2 Excess reports are those that were closed as NOTABUG, WONTFIX, WORKSFORME, CANTFIX or INSUFFICIENT_DATA. Excess reports are not necessarily a bad thing, but they make for interesting statistics. Close manual inspection is required to separate valuable excess reports from those which are less valuable.
3 This only includes reports that were created by that particular user and accepted as blockers afterwards. The user might have proposed other people’s reports as blockers, but this is not reflected in this number.

Once again we see a similar trend, with the numbers somewhat down on Fedora 22. Mikhail Gavrilov wins the race for quantity once more, while I managed to sneak in and take the crown for accepted blockers.

Conclusion

Overall the numbers continue to show a trend of dropping compared to Fedora 22 – though we can draw some different conclusions from this. We still have many heroes to thank, however, and it’s great to see all the tables with a strong showing from the community. Long-time MVPs satellit and juliuxpigface make a strong showing again, with dozens of other folks helping out in one or more of the areas we looked at. Thanks to all the heroes who appear above, we couldn’t make Fedora without you!
