On Setember 22, 2018 we celebrated the Fedora Women’s Day in Lima, Perú at PUCP (Pontifical Catholic University of Peru). The Fedora Women’s Day event seeks to integrate women in the world of Free Software. This year, I had the opportunity to be one of the organizers.
The annual Fedora contributor conference, Flock, took place from August 8-11, 2018. Several members of the Community Operations (CommOps) team were present for the conference. We also held a half-day team sprint for team members and interested people to participate and share feedback with the team.
This blog post summarizes some of the high-level takeaways and next steps for CommOps based on the feedback we received.
Our team sprint was significant for planning future goals and milestones for CommOps. Our sprint was a hands-on session split between Fedora Appreciation Week planning and exploring new questions to answer in fedmsg metrics.

Fedora Women’s Day (FWD) is a day to celebrate and bring visibility to female contributors in open source projects including Fedora. The initiative is led by Fedora’s Diversity and Inclusion team. The number of women in tech have been increasing year over year, further highlighting the importance of a more inclusive culture in tech.
On September 21, We had our first Fedora Women’s Day in the UAM Azcapotzalco (Mexico City) and we loved to do it.
I’ve recently resurrected the NeuroFedora SIG. Many thanks to Igor and
the others who’d worked on it in the past and have given us a firm base.
The (current) goal of the NeuroFedora SIG is to make Fedora an easy to
use platform for neuroscientists.
