Fedora Hatch Cork 2022

Fedora Hatch Cork was a small, local one day mini-conference. Fedora Project contributors were welcome to attend, learn about the project and connect with other contributors. There were several Fedora-related sessions, followed by a social activity in the evening. The event was held in the Red Hat office in Cork which was recently renovated.

CPE hiring a software engineer

The Community Platform Engineering group, or CPE for short, is the Red Hat team combining IT and release engineering for Fedora and CentOS. We currently have a position open for a software engineer in India.

About the role

We are hiring new talent to come work full time on Fedora, primarily as part of our Release Engineering group. You’ll get to work on the infrastructure that builds and ships the Fedora Linux release artifacts and updates. This role is perfect for anyone with experience or interest in Release Engineering.

About CPE

Our goal is to keep core servers and services running and maintained, build releases, and perform other strategic tasks that need more dedicated time than volunteers can give.

Contribute to Fedora 37 Upgrade Test Day

Fedora test days are events where anyone can help make sure changes in Fedora Linux work well in an upcoming release. Fedora community members often participate, and the public is welcome at these events. If you’ve never contributed to Fedora before, this is a perfect way to get started. The F37 Upgrade Test Day is Wednesday, October 5.

Contribute to the Fedora Project during Hacktoberfest 2022

Allow us to wake you up when September ends because Hacktoberfest is (nearly) here. And you can contribute to the Fedora Project while participating in Hacktoberfest 2022! This event is an excellent opportunity to advocate for free and open-source software, all while giving back to the community with the contribution of your choice. Hacktoberfest includes low and non-code contributions. You can diversify your contributions to include writing docs, creating designs, running tests, mentoring folks, and much more. This global event is open for anyone, from students to professionals. People of all backgrounds and skill levels are encouraged to join us.

Call for Proposals: FWD 2022

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team is hard at work in the preparation for Fedora Week of Diversity (FWD). We would love to have a larger group of volunteers to make Fedora Week of Diversity bigger and better this year to celebrate our diverse and inclusive community. 

FWD will take place on October 14th and 15th on the Hopin platform. We are also hosting an online game on https://teambuilding.com/ for all participants to play and attend connection games.

We are calling for participants to be interviewed or give a talk on personal experiences on diversity, equity, and inclusion within Fedora and in your life. We would love to hear your story!
