Continue readingSilverblue is an operating system for your desktop built on Fedora Linux. It’s excellent for daily use, development, and container-based workflows. It offers numerous advantages such as being able to roll back in case of any problems. Let’s see the steps to upgrade to the newly released Fedora 36 Beta, and how to revert if anything unforeseen happens.

Continue readingHi Fedora Friends! We made it through another year of living with COVID-19, with plenty of other challenges added on top. To everyone who make up Fedora – thank you for your presence, contributions, and efforts during this trying time. Because we have yet to see an end to living with COVID-19, I opened a discussion with the community about what we should do for this year’s contributor conference.
Based on that feedback, I am pleased to announce that we will be holding the third edition of Nest with Fedora on August 4th, 5th, & 6th. I will be publishing info on the CfP in the upcoming months. We will also be funding local in person meetups that we have titled Fedora Hatch. If you want to participate in an in person meetup, make sure to read on and suggest your ideas on the Flock pagure!

Continue readingAs we work our way through the Fedora Linux 36 Schedule, I am pleased to announce we will celebrate the final release of Fedora Linux 36 with a virtual Release Party. Please register on Hopin and join us on May 13th & 14th for a short program of informational sessions and social activities. Make sure to save the dates, share the registration, and show up to party with Fedora Friends!
The program is still in the works, but we hope to include informational sessions that will feature updates about Fedora IoT, Podman 4.0, and a bunch more current community activities. Last, but certainly not least, we will be hanging out in the Fedora Museum WorkAdventure for our Hallway track. Thanks to our amazing community for all your contributions to the latest release of Fedora Linux. Let’s celebrate!
How do we – as in, the developers and package maintainers who are working on Fedora Linux – make sure people actually know about all the cool stuff we’re doing? That’s the question at the heart of previous discussions on the “devel” mailing list (How do we announce new packages?) and on discourse (Idea for collecting “Cool New Features / Cool New Packages” article ideas).
As it turns out, the answer to that question is: “If what you’ve worked on isn’t big or noteworthy enough, then there’s no place for you”. That’s not good, and it’s why I started working on “Feature Spotlight”.
