When we launched teams.fedoraproject.org a few years ago, we were excited to financially support a great open source project while also providing project management tooling to the community. However, the adoption rate has been pretty low and we have several other tools available. Maintaining redundant tools isn’t a good use of our time and resources, so our Taiga instance will shut down on December 17.

Each quarter, the CPE Team—together with CentOS and Fedora community representatives—chooses initiatives to work on in the quarter. The CPE Team is then split into multiple smaller sub-teams that will work on chosen initiatives, plus the day-to-day work that needs to be done.

This year the annual Flock to Fedora conference was online again and known as Nest With Fedora. Even with the situation around COVID-19 and without the option to meet others in person, Nest was still an awesome conference with plenty of things to do. The conference was hosted on the Hopin platform, which allowed organizers to provide conference wide presentations and smaller sessions for other talks. There were also some social activities, like booths or meeting others in Work Adventure. You could also invite anybody for a private talk. The Community Platform Engineering (CPE) Team was there and gave quite a lot of talks.

Continue readingI’m excited to tell you we will have hosted GitLab available for the Fedora community. GitLab is providing this to Fedora as part of their GitLab for Open Source program. With this, our community has an additional option for code and project management.
The GitLab instance will available for any Fedora-related activities. After we complete connecting the authentication system, you will log in with your Fedora account and create projects as you need them. If your team wants a group within our namespace, we can create that for you. We will follow up with guidance on how to make those requests, but in the short term, you can open a ticket in the infrastructure tracker in Pagure.

Please register on Hopin and join us on November 12th & 13th for a short program of informational sessions and social activities. Make sure to save the dates, share the registration, and show up for Fedora Friends & Fun!
Informational sessions will feature updates about GNOME, our new Element instance, and a bunch more current community activities. Fedora Project Leader Matthew Miller will also be giving his “35 Releases in 30 Minutes” talk. Last, but certainly not least, we will be hanging out in the Fedora Museum WorkAdventure for our Hallway track. Thanks to our amazing community for all your contributions to the latest release of Fedora Linux. Let’s party!
