Taskotron Results to Notifications

Taskotron: Problem, Solution, Implementation

With Taskotron not sending comments to Bodhi anymore, there was no easy way to be notified about task results. This changed about a month ago when Taskotron started emitting fedmsgs so results started arriving to packagers. Last week, we fine-tuned notifications so packagers have more power over what result notifications they receive. Let’s have a look what are the defaults and what you can do to change them to suit your needs.

Heroes of Fedora (HoF) – F23 Alpha

Heroes of Fedora is back

Heroes of Fedora is back. First, we’re looking at Fedora 23 Alpha.

Fedora 23 was released recently, and as is now traditional, it’s time we celebrate all the fine folks who contributed to testing with Heroes of Fedora! Heroes of Fedora (HoF) features some exciting statistics analyzing major areas of contributions. Your regular host Roshi is busy at the moment, so I’m standing in.

As usual we’ll be looking at three major areas of contribution: updates testing, release validation, and bug reports, across the three release milestones – Alpha, Beta, and Final. In this post we’ll be covering Alpha. In the last post, we’ll also see numbers from the Fedora 23 Test Days. There are other important areas QA covers, so these posts don’t necessarily include everyone who helped out, but they’re the areas we can easily generate statistics for.

Mumble ready for testing

Mumble is back

Mumble, a free and open-source VoIP program

Mumble, a free and open-source VoIP program

The popular Voice Over IP (VoIP) program, Mumble, is being repackaged again for Fedora 22 and 23. Fedora contributor fedpop unretired the package from the Fedora Package Database and is working on getting it added to the stable repositories.

Mumble is available for testing for Fedora 22 and 23 users. Once enough positive feedback is received, it will be added back to the stable repositories for all users. Testers are welcome, especially for Fedora 22!

How to test Mumble

To test Mumble, open a command line and run the following command.

$ sudo dnf install mumble --enablerepo=updates-testing

Confirm the installation and the application will appear on your system. Give it a run and make sure everything works as expected! If it all checks out, leave feedback for the build in Bodhi so the package can move closer to being packaged for the stable repositories (links are below).

For help enabling the testing repository, see the QA Testing wiki article.
