This is a weekly report from the I&R (Infrastructure & Release Engineering) Team. It also contain updates for CPE (Community Platform Engineering) Team as the CPE initiatives are in most cases tied to I&R work.

Infrastructure & Release Engineering

Purpose of this team is to take care of day to day business regarding CentOS and Fedora Infrastructure and Fedora release engineering work.
It’s responsible for services running in Fedora and CentOS infrastructure and preparing things for the new Fedora release (mirrors, mass branching, new namespaces etc.).

• release-monitoring.org certificate renewed
• Update the developer doc
• Revamp the top level index page in doc
• Mailing lists for Forester project
• Purge IRC bridging and dead IRC puppets from #centos-hyperscale:fedoraproject.org

CentOS Infra including CentOS CI

• Reconfigure storage disks on a donated server
• Put snapshot of CentOS Stream 9 compose on buildlogs.c.o
• Create a bot account for tagging CBS packages

Release Engineering

• Fix PDC composes
• Add epel9 release to mdapi
• fedora-scm-requests not processed automatically
• Create Fedora 39 Final candidates
• Fedora Media Writer 5.0.8 released

CPE Initiatives

EPEL

Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (or EPEL) is a Fedora Special Interest Group that creates, maintains, and manages a high quality set of additional packages for Enterprise Linux, including, but not limited to, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS and Scientific Linux (SL), Oracle Linux (OL).

Updates

• Documented EPEL Steering Committee voting process
• Hosted EPEL Stakeholders call
• Blocked broken redhat-lsb package from going to EPEL 9 repo
• Engaged with FESCo to discuss retiring redhat-lsb
• Reviewed new lsb_release package to provide a limited purpose minimal alternative to redhat-lsb
• Updated caddy in EPEL 8 and EPEL 9 to fix default test/welcome page

ARC Investigations

The ARC (which is a subset of the CPE team) investigates possible initiatives that CPE might take on.
