This is a weekly report from the I&R (Infrastructure & Release Engineering) Team. It also contains updates for CPE (Community Platform Engineering) Team as the CPE initiatives are in most cases tied to I&R work.

Week: March 04-08, 2024

Infrastructure & Release Engineering

The purpose of this team is to take care of day to day business regarding CentOS and Fedora Infrastructure and Fedora release engineering work.
It’s responsible for services running in Fedora and CentOS infrastructure and preparing things for the new Fedora release (mirrors, mass branching, new namespaces etc.).
List of planned/in-progress issues

Fedora Infra

• In progress:
  • Looking at configuring the zabbix instances to connect on VPN so as to enable network access to  ‘$name.fedoraproject.org’ hosts
  • Migration of registry.fedoraproject.org to quay.io
  • add monitoring for dnf countme
  • Replace Nagios with Zabbix in Fedora Infrastructure
  • notifications do not notify
  • DNF countme minor changes post migration
  • vmhost-x86-copr02 hardware issues
  • PDC retirement
  • Move from iptables to firewalld

  • add ceph to the set of packages that use the heavybuilder channel
  • github2fedmsg 500 error
  • status.fedoraproject.org caching
  • [Pagure Exporter] Issue identifiers can now be retained
  • [Pagure Exporter] Increased robustness using Python-GitLab
  • Pagure Exporter v0.1.3a2 is now available on PyPI
  • communishift-log-detective: requesting more resources
  • Request for central database for OpenScanHub Resalloc integration
  • Allow CentOS Integration SIG to sent Gitlab events to the message bus

CentOS Infra including CentOS CI

• In progress:
  • major hardware issue impacting crucial services
  • Migrate aarch64 workload on new Ampere/snow machines
  • Migrate/decommission lists.centos.org
• Done:
  • Need Hyperscale Koji image build hosts for x86_64 and aarch64

Release Engineering

• In progress:
  • Fedora 40 Beta freeze
  • Packages that fail to build SRPM are not reported during the mass rebuild bugzillas
  • Fedora 39 CHECKSUM file doesn’t have any GPG data
  • Collect Atomic Desktop artifacts under single directory
  • Silverblue aarch64 installer image compose always fails on F38 and Rawhide
  • Sync RCs to alt/stg dl.fp.o
  • Silverblue aarch64 installer image compose always fails on F38 and Rawhide
• Done:
  • Bad checksum on Fedora Cisco OpenH264 repository
  • respins01.fedorainfracloud.org appears to be down again
  • Some packages submitted before the F40 beta freeze which didn’t pass automatic testing until after the freeze started weren’t automatically pushed stable or to testing

Community Design

CPE has few members that are working as part of Community Design Team. This team is working on anything related to design in Fedora Community.
