The Fedora Atomic Working Group is changing where you participate in our portion of the Fedora community. IRC, mailing lists, and more are all moving. Read on so that you know where to find us.
The Atomic Working Group is responsible for Fedora’s new container cloud platform, currently consisting of Fedora Atomic Host and the Fedora Layered Images Build System & Repository (FLIBS). As Atomic is now one of the three primary spins for Fedora, the WG spends most of its time on releases and integrating new container technologies into the OS. We are building the immutable infrastructure of the future, helping make Fedora the best free platform for automating thousands of servers.

Thursday, 2017-04-06, is the Anaconda BlivetGUI Test Day! As part of this planned Change for Fedora 26, we need your help to test Anaconda BlivetGUI!
We’ll be testing the new, detailed, bottom-up configuration screen that has been long requested by users. Inclusion of blivet-gui into Anaconda finally makes this a reality. On the other hand, it adds a new option without changing the existing advanced storage configuration so users that prefer the top-down configuration can still use it. We hope to see whether it’s working well enough and catch any remaining issues.

Thursday, November 3rd, 2016, is the Better Switchable Graphics Support Test Day! As part of this planned Change for Fedora 25, we need your help to test Better Switchable Graphics Support!
All modern laptops have a graphics processing unit (GPU) integrated into their processor (the integrated GPU). Some models also have a more powerful, dedicated GPU (dGPU), also called switchable graphics. The goal of this feature is to improve Fedora’s support for such laptops.

On 18 October 2016, we organized a workshop at the CMR Institute of Technology in Bengaluru, India. In the workshop, we covered topics of free and open source software (FOSS), Fedora, and git. FOSS Wave arrives at another destination! On 24th September 2016, we conducted an event at the Indian Institute of Technology in Indore, India. The event was a joint effort of Mozilla Indore community and FOSS Wave.
The main agenda of our event was:
GNOME Outreachy is a global program that offers historically underrepresented people of gender and race stipends to write code for several participating FOSS projects . Inspired by Google Summer Of Code, Outreachy offers participants hands-on internships for contributing to open source projects.
In 2016, the Outreachy internship dates are from December 6, 2016 to March 6, 2017. Participants work remotely from home while getting guidance from an assigned mentor and collaborating within their project’s community.
Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) is software that gives the user the freedom to use, share, study, and improve it. FOSS contributors believe that this is the best way to develop software because it benefits society, creates a fun collaborative community around a project, and allows anyone to make creative changes that reach many people.
Fedora is participating in Outreachy 2016, with a goal to welcome underrepresented minorities to contribute to the project. Fedora mentors Outreachy interns and helps them get a hands-on experience with developing for an open source project.
