My Experience as a Fedora Intern

As my internship with Fedora comes to an end, I reflect on my experiences over the past five months.  I began my internship in May, applying to a Community Architect position posted through Red Hat. I was unfamiliar with the Fedora community, but was eager to learn and contribute to the communities. Marie Nordin, the former Fedora Community Action and Impact Coordinator guided me the whole way. She taught me about the passion and enthusiasm the open source community respects within community involvement.

There were several Fedora-related sessions, followed by a social activity in the evening. The event was held in the Red Hat office in Cork which was recently renovated.

Call for Proposals: FWD 2022

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team is hard at work in the preparation for Fedora Week of Diversity (FWD). We would love to have a larger group of volunteers to make Fedora Week of Diversity bigger and better this year to celebrate our diverse and inclusive community.

FWD will take place on October 14th and 15th on the Hopin platform. We are also hosting an online game on https://teambuilding.com/ for all participants to play and attend connection games.

We are calling for participants to be interviewed or give a talk on personal experiences on diversity, equity, and inclusion within Fedora and in your life. We would love to hear your story!

We want to hear from you: take the Fedora Annual Contributor Survey for 2022!

The Fedora Council wants to hear what you have to say! Like last year, the goal of this survey is to collect valuable feedback to provide the right support for our Fedora community. We will evaluate the gathered information and discuss them at Nest with Fedora 2022. We are excited to have another set of data so we can run a comparative analysis and understand changes in the Fedora community over the last year. The survey will be open for all of June, and you will have the opportunity to earn a fun Fedora Badge. Take this year’s Annual Contributor Survey today!

The survey was coordinated by an awesome set of folks: Fedora Council member, Aleksandra Fedorova, Marie Nordin (coordination), Sumantro Mukherjee (support), Vipul Siddharth (LimeSurvey wrangler), Isabella Gordillo-Guevara (promotion) and Ashlyn Knox (websites). The Mindshare Committee and the Community Outreach Revamp team also aided in the creation of the survey and provided feedback several times as it was developed. We are excited to hear what our community has to say!

If you want to know more about our last year’s survey or explore the data set, checkout “Fedora Contributor Annual Survey Data Set Available“.
