My Experience as a Fedora Intern

As my internship with Fedora comes to an end, I reflect on my experiences over the past five months.  I began my internship in May, applying to a Community Architect position posted through Red Hat. I was unfamiliar with the Fedora community, but was eager to learn and contribute to the communities. Marie Nordin, the former Fedora Community Action and Impact Coordinator guided me the whole way. She taught me about the passion and enthusiasm the open source community respects within community involvement.

Call for Proposals: FWD 2022

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team is hard at work in the preparation for Fedora Week of Diversity (FWD). We would love to have a larger group of volunteers to make Fedora Week of Diversity bigger and better this year to celebrate our diverse and inclusive community.

FWD will take place on October 14th and 15th on the Hopin platform. We are also hosting an online game on https://teambuilding.com/ for all participants to play and attend connection games.

We are calling for participants to be interviewed or give a talk on personal experiences on diversity, equity, and inclusion within Fedora and in your life. We would love to hear your story!

Outreachy is a paid, remote internship program that helps traditionally underrepresented people in tech make their first contributions to Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) communities. Fedora Project is participating in this round of Outreachy as a mentoring organization. We asked our Outreachy interns to tell us some things about themselves! Here are they, in their own words.

Fedora Stories: Fedora Week of Diversity is here!

Fedora’s Diversity & Inclusion Team determined in the spring of 2021 at a virtual meetup to evolve our yearly “Fedora Women’s Day” event to the “Fedora Week of Diversity”. Fedora Week of Diversity runs October 3–9th and features a series of interviews with community members telling their Fedora stories. We also started a Recommended Resources page in the D&I Team Docs that we will continue to improve upon. Last, but not least, we (finally) published the videos from Fedora Women’s Day 2020 to the Fedora YouTube channel. This week will be full of highlights from this content to showcase Fedora’s diversity!
